NEWS!

Most of us have too many T-shirts. They just sort of accumulate over the years: graduations, company give-aways, concerts, vacations, etc. They are comfortable, easy to wear and you don't usually worry about spilling stuff on them. But there is such a thing as TOO MANY T-shirts. Some you just don't like, but you hang onto for sentimental reasons or because someone gave them to you. Or you feel you can't throw them away, but you don't think they're thrift-store worthy either. Well, my friends, I am here to HELP you with your T-shirt problem.
I will take any and all T-shirts (no matter how old or abused) and give them joyous new life! They might be reworked into a new garment, a bookbag, a pillow, a dog or cat bed, who knows? I'm feeling creative! And the best part: it's RECYCLING! And we all want to recycle, right?
I'm going to start a shop on etsy.com and so I'll tell you up front I'll be making money, I hope, although my wares will be aimed at people like me, who can't afford a $40 hemp and soy tunic (LOL) and so my prices will be crazy cheap. Which is why I'm begging for handouts. :aww:
So, if you want to donate your excess T-shirts (and be willing to pay to mail them, that's the big issue) send me a note.
No rush on this, because I have to drive to Oklahoma to pick up a sewing machine anyway. :D And more T-shirts from my parents. They're so cute. My mom is going to scour garage sales for me. Go mom!
:excited: I've got so many ideas!

In NON-BEGGING news:
I went and cleaned up my journal entries. Gah, so many crappy journals! But I kept the ones I thought were useful and important to read. So, take a look! Read! Be inspired! Be moved! Be loved!

The (stock model) game is afoot!

NEW CSS LAYOUT AND ART BY ELANDRIA

NEWS!

I had an idea for a somewhat elaborate but fun game for both the stock models and their watchers to play. Not sure if anyone will want to participate, but here goes:

Each model will pick another stock model's image to do a companion image for. For instance, suppose I choose *mizzd-stock and the image What I would then do is create a new stock image to be used with that one. It would have to be somewhat obvious: use of proper costumes, lighting, pose etc. In the description of my image, I'd say "This piece compliments one by *mizzd-stock "

Then the artists would have to find the right stock image and use the two together. Anyone who did so would get a feature in both my journal and mizzd-stock's journal (or if I had chosen a "dead" account, just my journal.)
(And yes, I would certainly tell you whether or not you had the right stock image before you began. I'm not cruel!)

There would be no time limit or deadline. This would be an ongoing part of dA's stock model community.

STOCK PARTICIPANTS
*jademacalla has just posted this:
See his description for where to go to find the companion piece. :)
If you think you know which photo his stock matches, send HIM a note to find out. :D

NEWS!

In 1908, 15,000 women marched through New York City and demanded better pay, shorter work hours, and the right to vote. A hundred years later, many women in the world still are struggling for basic human rights. In societies where rape victims are ostracized and even punished, the cost of speaking out can be devastating. Yet even so, there are women who are fighting to change this. They have found their voices, but they need someone to listen.

Women For Women is an organization helping these women to rebuild their lives and to build strong communities in war and post-war areas. It costs as little as $27 a month to support a woman and her kids. In a lot of war-torn areas, the women are widows or have no family to turn to. They alone must provide for themselves and their children.

Read Kizende's story to see how this program can change a life.

Even if you don't have the financial means to help, at least listen to what she has to say. She risked everything to say it.

NEWS!

:blackrose:

Today I carried Lou out into the back yard for one last bask in the sunlight, one last breath of fresh autumn air. Then we went back inside and I laid him on the floor. The other cats sniffed at him and Ghira kept vigil beside him. About an hour later, he took his last breaths and died, surrounded by his family.

Thank you, Lou, for being my kitty. I'll miss my little silky-soft boy.

Right now, Tim's gone to get a spade or shovel. Tez is lying beside Lou, staring at his body and face. The kittens were playing in the box that was going to be Lou's coffin but I think the bare earth will do nicely. Right now, everyone is is still and quiet, even the kittens and bird. I'm just typing this in between bouts of crying and petting his body. I will miss that so much, just the feel of his fur and the warm softness that he once had.

He came along when I was wishing for a kitten of my own. He was so small and had apparently crawled up into the engine area of Tim's car and even gone for a ride, as his whiskers were singed. But he wasn't timid or shy and he became mine.

He'll always be mine.

:iconseniormentors:
That's right! I've joined the `seniormentors program, but at the moment, there don't seem to be any stock models needing mentoring. I've got spaces for three, so if you DO want to be my protegeé and you ARE very new at this, put in an application at [link] and choose "Photography" since there isn't a "stock model" category. I am only taking on three "mentees" at a time, so please don't feel rejected if I can't take on every applicant. I wuv everyone!

The one millionth pageview was nabbed twice! I got one note from ~EMTGlen and one from =drizztbsd and so I'll give props to them both!
(~EMTGlen's screencap)
[link] (link to =drizztbsd's imageshack screencap)

First off, ~EMTGlen doesn't have any art in his gallery, so he's graciously allowed for me to feature his favorite artist on dA! So here are a few images from the remarkable gallery of *stephanielynn

Here are some works by =drizztbsd
